Violette Szabo - Bushell
is born in France and later her family moves to London.
In August 1940, she marries Etienne Szabo of France, who leaves a week later to fight in Africa where he is killed in 1942.
Violette enlists in Special Operations in 1943. Her second mission in France fails and she gets arrested. After several tortures and interrogations, she is taken to the Ravensbrück women's camp. On January 18, 1945, Violette is executed there.
Posthumously, Violette is awarded a George Cross and a Croix de Guerre, among others.
