Emily Dickinson

Installation in two parts about the silent, white world of American poet Emily Dickinson (1830-1886). Emily wrote almost 1800 poems in her self-chosen, reclusive existence.

Location of the installation is the hall and basement of Huis Kernhem (1803) in Ede.

The installation in the hall

Emily Dickinson surrounded herself with strong-smelling flowers to mask her unpleasant body odour caused by chronic kidney disease. Many of her poems were inspired by her garden.

At the bottom of the pond, her portrait is fixed to a mirror. When you look into it, your face blends with Emily's.
